About us

Carmentalia: The Future of Humanity and Technology is an interdisciplinary conference on the relationship between people, technology and the future. It grew out of two student research Associations — Konwersatorium pod Kałamarnicą at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and Axion at Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

Organising committee

Twelve students from Poznań and Wrocław responsible for preparing and running Carmentalia.

AMU — Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Faculty of Philosophy. WUST — Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Faculty of Information and Communication Technology.

Scientific board

The board oversees the academic level of the conference and reviews submitted abstracts. It deliberately spans philosophy and engineering: specialists in the philosophy of science, economics and logic sit alongside researchers with engineering backgrounds.

Konwersatorium pod Kałamarnicą emblem

Konwersatorium pod Kałamarnicą is a discussion section of the Student Philosophy Association (SKF) at the Faculty of Philosophy, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. The section conceived Carmentalia and runs it together with the Axion Association from Wrocław.

The conference is planned as a recurring event, to be repeated and scaled up in the following academic years.

Axion

A student research Association at Wrocław University of Science and Technology and organiser of Carmentalia.

Axion operates at the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, based at Plac Grunwaldzki 11a in Wrocław. The Association organises Carmentalia and brings the engineering perspective to a conference rooted in philosophy — the premise being that in a period of rapid technological change, humanistic reflection has to go hand in hand with hard engineering knowledge.

Axion will also give a special group paper during the conference.

Patrons

Carmentalia is organised by two student research Associations, under honorary patronage and with the support of the academic media.
